Transcoding Problem with Old Player

@sergiou87
latest PMS and iOS update didnt resolve the problem

Any way i can help?

best regards

I just can’t reproduce the problem here, everything seems to be working fine, I will try something different and see if I’m luckier :thinking:

Thanks for the help though! :plexheart:

@sergiou87

sent you PM with movie diwnload link

hope this helps.

best regards

Thanks for the help! I just tested that file and works perfectly fine here with DNS rebinding protection :frowning:

Tried the exact same playback settings you posted up ther and all works fine here.

We added to the latest release some logging that could be useful to understand better what’s wrong in your tests :thinking: Could you update the app, reproduce the issue again and send me the app logs? Maybe I can find something interesting now :crossed_fingers:

Thanks!!

@sergiou87
Yes, will do so as soon as i get home.
Just iOS logs or PMS logs too?

Now that you ask… get me both in case it helps (I doubt there will be anything useful in the server logs, but who knows :sweat_smile:)

Thank you!

@sergiou87
I sent you the logs via PM

thx

Thank you!! Very useful. From what I see the app downloads the video AND subtitle segments without an issue. I can see that in both app and server logs.

There is only one (harmless) error when the video metadata is loaded, but shouldn’t affect anything.

A few questions/suggestions:

  • Have you tried pausing&resuming after it’s buffering for a while? Sometimes Apple’s video player takes really long to realize it can resume playback without risk of stalling later. When this is the problem, just waiting (for a couple of minutes or so, but maybe longer) “fixes” the issue.
  • Have you tried rebooting the device? I’ve seen sometimes Apple’s video player doing weird things even if you kill and restart the app, until you reboot the device.
  • Have you tried restarting the server? Unlikely it will make a difference, but sometimes it does :joy:

@sergiou87
I did restart Server, reinstall iOS client, rebootet iPhone. No change.

Sometimes it works with pausing a video during spinning wheel, sometimes it doesnt. Dont know why some work this way and some dont.

today i put plex.direct back in the DNS protection of my FritzBox and suddenly works.

Logs with Plex.direct in DNS protection:
PlexDebugInfo-Ekomax-7.4-21322 (2020-08-11 12.31.25 +0200).zip (596,3 KB)

@sergiou87
Did you have time to look at the logs?
