Transcoding QNAP TS-351 buffering

Server Version#: 1.16.6.1592 (QNAP TS-351)
Player Version#: 8.2.1.18636 (Android)

I’m trying to stream an mkv H.264 1080p audio EAC3 5.1 file to a chromecast. HW transcoding has been activated but I get alot of buffering. Here is the warning I keep getting

[Chromecast] [Player] Buffering detected, last position change

May we see the DEBUG log files please of an actual playback which captures this?

Does it happen at the beginning? If so, that’s even better as both will certainly be in the logs (they aren’t that big)

Here’s the log for a part of the streaming, thx

Streaming - Jun 29 2020 09 23 50 113 DEBUG -.txt (59.1 KB)

Looks like transcoding speed is fast enough. Might be the network??

Jun 29, 2020 08:16:25.209 [0x7f5886308700] VERBOSE - * speed => 2.1

I’m sorry my request wasn’t clear.

  1. Verify DEBUG logging enabled and VERBOSE logging disabled.
  2. Recreate
  3. Wait 20 seconds
  4. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  5. Attach the ZIP file it presents you.

Thanks ChuckPA but I was able to solve the problem.

And it was a network issue. Because my Chromecasts are on a different VLAN (IoT devices), I had to add the subnet into the network configuration of the Plex server. Plex was basically considering the other subnet as a non-local ip addresses.

And obviously, port 32400 has to be open between both VLANs from the chromecasts to the plex server.
