I have four Plex servers, all running on different hardware (Intel, amd, vm). They are all set to software transcode and different settings (speed, quality, make my CPU hurt.)
I use my Android tablet while commuting with a hotspot. Due to data limits, I set the quality to 300kb (the lowest quality setting.) Regardless of what transcode quality is set, initial playback is pretty bad, very blurry, etc. At first I just assumed this was due to the low bitrate. However, I’ve noticed if I switch it to 700kb, then back to 300kb, its much more clear for the duration of the playback.
I’ve confirmed it’s not cached 700kb, I only switch it for a few seconds, and after switching I’ll ff and rewind and the quality remains significantly better.
Any ideas why is happening across all servers at various transcoder settings?
