Transferring iTunes Playlist to Plex! (works)

Hi team,

Zero association here with this product in anyway, but this saved me countless hours of hassle, so wanted to share… after I had tried everything else and looked elsewhere.

Best I could do was capturing ratings, and making smart playlists out of those (indirectly):

I had a ton of particular playlists though left, and was left with manually recreating… an absolute nightmare but so be it. Some how I came across: https://musconv.com/

Dubious, but desparate - I signed up, tested with trial, then paid the $20 (cheap for the time saved). I emailed that the strike rate wasn’t great e.g. 220 songs in playlist, and only 100 or so were picked up.

It doesn’t transfer the file, but it builds based on names, artists, etc. from what you have in Plex already.

I had done some updated from Music Picard and changed things, anyway - they did an update to program - and strike rate basically went to 90%.

You can get a .csv of those not found, so can easily add manually later.

Do rate it. It’s not just itunes, or .xml files, or m3u3 etc. it’s like 50 different systems.

Hopefully helps someone else.

I concur. Originally I got musconv to transfer playlists from the now defunct Google Play Music app to my Plex server. As Conzaaa says above, at first the playlist matches were so so, but the developer is very responsive to requests for improvements, and over time the match algorithms have gotten much better to the point where almost no cleanup is required (if you are being ■■■■ about playlist replication). If you are OK with 95%, no editting is required. And the number of music services supported includes just about everything out there. You can get a trial the works for up to 25 tracks or the licensed version here: Download MusConv – Transfer Playlists Between 125+ Music Services
