“not enough cpu for conversion of this item”
This file works perfectly with the previous beta version.

@enginev3 youd likely get that same error in thecpublic beta as well. That error occurs when you run out of transcoder slots and is unrelated to the transcoder changes.
impossible, it is set to unlimited and there were only 4 plays at the time
Are both gpu and cpu slots set to unlimited? Did you adjust anything for the new settings? Also, what kind of gpu are you using? Some nvidia cards limit it to 4 streams and that may not play as nice with the new architecture as i thought.
Ofc, both are set to unlimited
Intel core i7 11700, igp
No dedicated VGA
I’ll reinstall it in a few hours and check again.
If there are no issues there logs would help, afaik thats what causes that particular error but there may be an interaction going on under the hood.
Can you please provide the server’s Debug Logs ZIP file where you capture the transcode playback?
The attached video does not show sufficient information.
ofc
Plex Transcoder Statistics.log (2.0 KB)
No. The ZIP file you get from PMS when you click “Download Logs”.
I need that file please.
The statistics logs is meaningless at this point of the diagnosis.
Thank you.
I’ll chat with Chris. He understands Windows. ( I am the Linux engineer)
Please leave the logs here for him to see (they are sufficiently sanitized)
@enginev3 The logs you sent are from the current public build and do not contain any error you might have seen on this preview…
Sorry, did I post in the wrong topic?
But this problem still exists.
Looks like wrong topic and wrong logs. We are going to move this discussion into its own thread. In the mean time can you please reproduce the issue and then send the logs from that version (logs apear to be from the “working” version)
I did it with both plex media server versions, launching the same file
Newer pms
Plex Media Server Logs_2025-09-01_04-33-07.zip (206.9 KB)
Older pms
I found the solution
if the Maximum simultaneous CPU transcodes value is set to unlimited then the error occurs, if I set it to some other value then playback starts
thanks for bringing this to my attention. the next version of 1.42.2 will have a fix!
