I have a working Live DVR on a Windows machine, with a manually added transponder file.
Now I want to move the Live DVR functionality to a PMS on a Nvidia Shield TV Pro machine.
But, i cannot find any way of installing the transponder file on the Nvidia Shield.
Is there any chance of transporting a “personal” transponder file to a PMS on Nvidia Shield TV?
(or, is this feature maybe in the pipeline?)
Could you give me some details?
Is it for dvb-c ? dvb-t ?
what provider / region?
Is it an additional one or to correct an existing ini file?
Is there a web page giving the details ?
Hi there, and thanks for the response
It is for DVB-C.
The provider is local; i.e. we get the DVB-C signal from a specific setup in the neighborhood.
The location is Tórshavn, Faroe Islands
I have attached the transponders INI file I am using on the Windows setup; i.e. located in the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Tuner\Shared\scanners\dvbc\transponders” folder.
I just selected one of the existing INI files, and modified it to suit my requirements. And then it worked perfectly in my Windows PMS Live DVR setup.
The perfect Nvidia Shield solution would be to be able to upload own INI file to the correct location in PMS installment. Alternatively it would be nice to be able to enter the specific transponder values one-by-one (frequency, symbol-rate and QAM-value).
There is no official web-page for the provider. It is driven by local citizens, and communication is done via a Facebook group.
You will find all frequencies in the attached file above.
The channels are the typical Nordic channels (faroese, danish, norwegian) + some UK channels (ITV, Sony, …)
The signal is fetched via local antennas and distributed as a dvb-c signal to the local community. I do not expect that the supplied INI file will be distributed via an official PMS distribution - although this absolutely would be a OK solution for me.
Instead I want to be able to specify the frequencies+symbol-rate+QAM values directly to the PMS server on Nvidia Shield - f.ex. via an upload button in the PMS Live DVR configuration section.
I have a Webgrab+ scheduled task which generates an XMLTV file.
I have stiched together an webgrab+site-INI file, which can scrabe the necessary EPG webpages in order to generate an XMLTV file. I then registered the location of this XMLTV file in PMS Live DVR UI, and voila: Updated EPG for our selected channels on all the special frequencies
Everything works wonderful in my Windows PMS installation, but now I want to move the installation to a Nvidia Shield TV Pro. The only thing missing, is to be able to inform Nvidia Shield PMS Live DVR how the frequencies and channels are to be configured. I have this information, but am not able to deliver it to PMS.
I can’t imagine, that the strategy of “we will configure everything for you”, will work for every PMS/Live DVR installation all over the world.
That is why it always should be possible for “power users” to make their own configurations in order to make things work in their special case.
So, - anyone at Plex - please make it possible to upload own “transponders.ini” file to the correct location on Nvidia Shield Pro.
I have raised this internally. There would be significant development work to provide such a feature - and the benefit would be very limited - perhaps to a handful of users.
