I’m having trouble figuring out the proper naming convention to have this DVD be recognized properly. Apparently Friends Finale 2004 is just showing up as a dummy movie without being connected properly, when I name the movie folder Friends Finale 2004.
The other problem I’m having is how to handle the two episode versions inside the disk. There is a Broadcast Version and an Extended Version. I was thinking that I would name one of them as the feature and the other as well "/Broadcast Version -other.
Any suggestions. I’m guessing that without it showing up properly as a recognized movie, none of the extras show up properly either. I have other extra files that aren’t showing either. They are all labeled movie name / name of extra-other
So are you saying I have to treat it as an episode.
However, since this actually is a separate DVD that contains both the broadcast and extended editions I was hoping to be able to have it show up like a movie and then include the extras.
Just to be clear you are saying:
This is not possible even if it is a separate DVD edition with it’s own title Friends Finale
Once I put it into the PLEX TV shows that NONE of the extras can be shown.
BTW So we saying that for extras to show up under a movie the movie has to be fully recognized in the PLEX database as a real movie and be in the MOVIE folder?
Otherwise, couldn’t I put it in the movie section and then add everything else as bonus features and have it NOT recognized as an existing movie?
Unless you want to make it hard - then you can perform whatever wild, unnecessary, and time consuming gyrations you find satisfying - then hunt for it when you’re almost done 'cause it’s not next On Deck.
Me? I called it Episode 17 and Called it the Finale in the description.
Next Show… this one’s done.
BTW:
Whatever you come up with - won’t be as good as this:
unfortunately plex currently does not support the concept of tv ‘extras’. IF the extras are listed as specials @ the tv db, then plex can utilize them, if the extras are named according to however the tvdb has the special episodes named.
you can also add extras that are not in the tvdb by using a higher special season/episode number, ie friends - s00e101- my extra here.mkv
theoretically, you could also use the tv extras agent, but that may not work in the future when plex switches to the new tv agent.
FWIW, here is my exact naming for this finale
/data4/media/tvarchive/Friends (1994)/Season 10/Friends (1994) - s10e17-e18 - The Last One + The Last One [x264 AC3 2.0].mkv
I see at least one of your specials there.
Fix Match/Search Options/Agent/TMDB
or discovered recently - if you have TMDB agent enabled for Shows - just naming them to match what’s on TMDB should do the trick. It also means any ‘Custom’ numbering should start well above the listing at TMDB.
