I can add extras to movies on PLEX by turning on local media assets. I turned them on as well for TV shows, but the extras are not showing up. Is this not supposed to work for TV shows if if I put the -featurette or -deleted at the end?
Here’s the handbook:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220707-Naming-TV-Show-Specials-
It’s not elegant, but it does work. Sometimes (most times) it requires manual editing and the more of that you do the better the end product will appear…
I use the Season 00 method. As examples here are my B5 Specials - some found at TVDB, some hand edited and some not yet edited as the Show is currently a work in progress (a complete DVD re-rip - hopefully for the last time).
On rare occasions you’ll find DVD extras listed at TVDB as Specials. Correct naming of these rare gems will produce the TVDB info, air dates, descriptions, thumbs, etc:
Babylon 5 Specials at TVDB: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=70726&seasonid=18194&lid=7
You’ll note there are 8 listed specials (pre-quels, sequels, special airings, etc). Logically I started naming my special episodes at S00E10 so there wouldn’t be any confusion at TVDB - the episodes simply don’t exist so they won’t be matched to another ‘legitimate’ special. I tagged the episode name ‘Bloopers’ for S00E10 so I could see it easily while editing it (later) and enter a brief description without having to guess what it is.

This has been going on for so long there is little hope that Plex will ever refine TV Show Extras any further so those of us that want to use them are forced to resign ourselves to this somewhat cumbersome (but effective) process.
There is at least one benefit of using this method - if a Special episode is matched properly at TVDB (or hand edited in expert fashion) and originally aired at the start, end, or during an aired season the air-date will put it in the On Deck queue for the item to be played in the correct spot automatically.
