Troubleshooting Transcoding Issues Remote Access - QNAP T253B - Android Mobile

This is about Music only. I only have one library on my Plex Server - Music.
I have enabled remote access via Static IP and Manual Port Forwarding. The status shows as Server - “Fully accessible outside your network”. Refer to attachment - “Server Screenshot”

On my Android, I have set the quality for Remote Audio playback to Original. Refer to attachent - “Player Quality”

My android player is still transcoding my music, not sure why. Please refer to attachment - “Player Transcode”

Any help or directions here how to use remotely direct play for my flac music files will be greatly appreciated.

Can someone please throw some light on this issue?

There are some options in Settings - Quality if you view those using the web app or PMP. I’m not sure about your mobil and how you adjust the cap.

It looks like it’s a bitrate issue. I’m able to play Flac directly on iOS fwiw.

This looks like an app issue and not a server issue.

I have added Android Mobile to the title and retagged.

Seems I overlooked a lot of details in your OP pictures, how you tried all the maximum settings. I apologize for that. Can we get some Android Mobil player logs given the advice from ChuckPA?

Android Mobil is in rapid development. With your plex pass you can try out the latest beta and bug report against that player. The most recent one fixed a lot of music issues for other users, like can’t play music offline that’s been downloaded.

Thank you nibbles. I will try the beta app. Not trying to be pedantic but with the amount of bugs/issues in the current Android app, I am not sure if beta can be worse :joy:

I have joined the beta program (for Android) and am on latest Plex Server version (1.18) but still Direct Play is not working. It is really frustrating because if I am unable to use my flac files remotely it defeats the whole purpose of Plex for me. I am already using a lot of streaming (HD Streaming is not available in India) like Spotify, Amazon etc. I wanted to play my library in CD quality when I am away.

At least can someone please suggest if this is a known issue and will be fixed?

We need player logs. And if you’re 100% serious about this, you’ll follow the beta testing instructions and make a topic in that forum for each issue and each version that includes a sample, player logs, and steps to reproduce.

Very easy steps to replicate the issue

Step 1: Launch Plex Android App.
Step 2: Play any music file from the library. The first song show as direct play, refer screenshot below.


Step 3: Change the song by clicking on next track button. You now lose direct play, refer to screenshot below.
