Music Transcoding on Remote Connections

I’m running the latest Android beta (7.8.0.8088, 2545c6b2), and love the new music player! Thanks a ton for improving the music playback experience so significantly. However, something strange I’ve noticed in regards to the new player and its new “Playback info” menu. If I go into Settings > Quality and set the Remote quality to 320kbps, 192kbps, or 128kbps, the Playback info shows my music being transcoded to 128kbps regardless of which of the 3 settings I choose. The 96kbps does seem to show 96kbps, however.

Additionally, no matter which of these 4 settings I choose, even though the app’s Playback info shows “transcoding”, on the Plex web app status page, it shows my phone as direct playing the music instead of transcoding. Does this mean no transcoding is actually happening at all, or is it simply reporting it wrong?

I can report the same behaviour on the new iOS audio player, music gets transcoded to Opus 128 kbps regardless of the « remote audio bitrate » setting
