I restarted the server at 1 AM without verbose. I’ll report with the logs in the morning, thank you again!
Crap, sorry, woke up later than expected. Had an optional meeting at 6:45 and skipped it. But here are my logs from overnight last night.

Hey and hope you had a good weekend. Any update after looking at those logs?
I’m not seeing a block on your IP anymore, and the scheduled tasks is only checking for an update once, so I don’t think the block is caused by your server.
I don’t think it’s the IP block since there isn’t one now. But something is still blocking PMS from accessing IVA to grab the list of trailers. Or is somehow affecting PMS so the results it gets are not what is expected. Have you tried turning bitdefender off?
The only other thing is that the WiFi connection is not working properly. Do you have Hot Spot on a cell phone? Try connecting your serer to that instead of your WiFi and see if trailers work after that.
Damn, really nothing seems to work. I tried everything. Mobile data hotspot with BitDefender on and then off, mobile data with BitDefender off with the network both password protected and not, and then mobile data with BitDefender disabled and Windows Security fully disabled password protected and not, and absolutely nothing. I tried playing it through the web browser player, fresh restarted the server each time I made a change, double-checked my movie library to ensure cinema trailers were enabled, made sure I had 3 of them play before anything, and made sure it was only cinema/blu-ray enabled. I really don’t even have suggestions for what this can. The ONLY thing I can think, literally the last thing, is that my mobile data hotspot is connected to data that runs through a cell signal extender plugged into our phone jack thing (or maybe the modem, unsure). I can only give the last guess that this is ISP based (I have Xfinity) or the modem has a firewall I’m unaware of. If you have any other suggestions, I am very open to them. I’m also going to attach 4 logs from four different tries.
Mobile Network BitDefender (from now on BD) on:

Mobile Network BD off:
Uploading: Plex Media Server Logs_2022-08-09_17-21-11.zip…
Home Wifi Windows Security & BD completely off:

Mobile Network Windows Security & BD completely off:

I really tried any combination I could think of. Just out of curiosity, do Trending Trailers under Home/Discover come from the same source? Those seem to work just fine.
Looks like the Mobile Network BD off log didn’t fully upload.

Might also be worth it to note I have only ever run Plex off of this laptop I am using. I know you said the IP address was banned then wasn’t, but I can’t help but wonder if this is device or account specific.
EDIT: I mentioned before we have a network extender. It’s locked away, but upon looking at the installation video, it seems like the device can either be connected to a Wi-Fi router OR a modem. At this point, it’s getting a bit messy, because even our Wi-Fi runs through an EERO mesh network. But hey, still open to any and all suggestions!
Don’t want to hijack the thread, so this is just to add a data point, and perhaps make OP feel a little better that it is not just them:
I don’t normally have trailers enabled. Out of curiousity I thought I would after reading this, just to test and see. Turns out I experience the same thing!
Include Cinema Trailers from movies in my library - I get trailers
Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in theaters and Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies on Blu-ray - I don’t get trailers
And I am running reverse proxied in docker on a remote debian bare metal setup, so nothing like OPs setup.
Not hijacking at all! Honestly, I’m hoping to report back to someone on Reddit who has also been having this issue, so it’s making me feel less crazy that it wasn’t just 2 of us, and that maybe we can all get it resolved. The only difference is I can select Cinema alone, it doesn’t work, and blu-ray alone doesn’t work. The combo of the two also doesn’t work. Any combination including local media trailers only always plays local media. But I don’t want to stray too far from the topic MovieFan has been helping with or recite too much of the same stuff haha. But thank you for sharing!
Hey MovieFan, any update before the weekend?
Unfortunately, there isn’t anything new in the logs to point to the cause.
Please restart your server and provide me the logs. I need the first 3 minutes when PMS starts.
So a small update: my previous statement was not entirely accurate. It’s actually a little more complex:
I have two movie libraries: Regular and 4K
Regular Library (RL) is using the old agent still
4K has been updated to the new agent
RL: I actually get trailers for most movies. Except for one movie, and it just so happened that I managed to pick that one outlier movie when I was testing, which is what originally lead me to think it wasn’t working at all… Oy. So it’s not as dire as OP where it doesn’t work at all. It is interesting that it doesn’t work for one movie though, when it does for all others?
4K: Here I get no trailers. Even for the same movies from RL where trailers do work. So that’s odd.
Will logs still be useful given this new information?
Hope you had a good weekend. Is it possible to see when the ban on my IP address was made? Or if unbanning it will fix the issue?
The ban is already gone from your account so I don’t think that is the cause. Something else is blocking/interfering with that request to get the list of trailers.
Well, that’s unfortunate we couldn’t determine a resolution let alone what the issue is. If there are any last logs I can provide while doing an action or something, please let me know. I can’t rightly think of anything else other than to try this on an entirely separate laptop or perhaps get the router owner to enable port forwarding.
I wonder. Do you know if anyone else in house is also running PMS? Maybe the router is getting confused and sending the response to them instead.
wouldn’t running wire shark on the laptop give you the definitive details of what is occurring when the calls go out and come back? I’m not familiar enough with it as i’ve only used it with tutorials when diagnosing stuff but seems like that is your best bet if it is network related.
Possibly, but I’m not very familiar with it either. We do have someone at Plex who is great at that stuff so if you can get me the info I can have them take a look.
well i’d take a shot at wireshark. you know the problematic IP (web address) and so you can have a good way to filter down the wire shark results to see what is happening there. But may be useless. Thats just what i start to toy with when i think something is going on with the network and i have done all the standard troubleshooting.
When I suggested this earlier I was referring to using HotSpot from your phone, not a physical hotspot device which may be doing something different. This will bypass anything odd that may running on your local network.
Would you be able to test this way?
I was using my cell phone’s mobile hotspot. I do have a physical standalone hotspot device, but never have it on. I do have WireShark installed already, just haven’t set up the web browser portion of it.
I also do not have anyone else running PMS. Might the person who is experienced with WireShark give me a run down on what I need to do to maybe troubleshoot or diagnose the issue?
