Tuner Priority for certain channels

I have 2 HDHR devices setup.
1 CableCard Prime
1 HDHR4-2US – OTA

I currently have my OTA channels mapped in to use the CAbleCard Guide which isn’t a huge deal for now (I asked a question regarding this in another thread.

But what I wanted to point out is that Plex doesn’t seem to be handling tuner priority correctly. Let me try and explain

The OTA tuner and Prime have 23 overlapping channels which i mapped across as mentioned above.
Tonight I have the following shows set to record:

  1. Deadliest Catch: DSCHD – PRIME Tuner 1 (this channel only avail on prime)
  2. Channel Zero: SYFYHD - Prime Tuner 2 (this channel only avail on prime)
  3. How I met your… WCIUDT (Avail on both prime and HDHR4)
  4. This is Us (WMAQDT) - avail on both prime and HDHR4
    5.** CONFLICT!!!** The Big Bang Theory - (TBSHD - Prime only)

Clearly recording 3 or 4 above is taking up the 3rd prime tuner when in fact it should not due to the fact that there is another recording set which required the prime… recording 5.

I believe i could resolve this by moving The Big Bang theory up in the recordings schedule list, which is fine for now, but it certainly seems like a dvr improvement that can be done on plex(s) side

I have a similar issue but instead I have channels disabled on a tuner yet Plex still uses these channels (even though the signal is weak) to record shows. It seems to be a similar scheduling priority issue in addition. I talk about it at forums.plex.tv/discussion/239261/bug-unable-to-successfully-disable-channel-in-dvr-with-2-devices

I struggled with basically the same issue. I found a work around (hack) to change the priority of my tuners.
