Somewhere in the past couple versions or so of Plex no matter what I record from FOX (2.1) network OTA using my HDHomerun Quatro devices the recordings are choppy, audio seems off, etc… basically not watchable. This happens also when trying to watch this station live through Plex. I have not noticed any other channels doing this in Plex. And I know for a fact it worked earlier in this fall TV season. One of my wife’'s shows she likes started these bad recordings and each week I would find myself having to scramble to look for the episode elsewhere (PlayonTV isn’t a terrible option for this fwiw).
Anyway I have noticed if I load the URL from my HDHomerun via VLC for this channel it looks and plays perfect. I plan to try rolling back my server version in hopes of getting back to one that was recording fine.
Anyone else seeing this at all or have any insight on why a single channel wouldn’t tune properly? Is it something I could manually tweak in the database somewhere?
Tuning OTA channels these days, Is it possible one application can tune to the exact setting needed while another cannot? I don’t know a ton about TV stuff but I thought channels tune in Khz, kind of like radio (96.1FM is different from 96.6FM)? If one application might be able to tune 2.14567 and get perfect signal but another application would go to 2.13333 which is close but not enough to get a solid signal. Not how it works?
