Turn off visualiser completely

I found an old closed thread about this from 2021 & the visualiser is still not optional so my hopes aren’t high, but…

I cannot stand the visualiser & yet, every single time I play something, I have to swipe down to get rid of it. Is it really that hard to just have an off switch?

Perhaps it’s incomprehensible to you that someone might not want any of those irritating animations cluttering up their day. (Yes, I’ve checked them all to see if any of them are any less bothersome than the others. They aren’t.)

Is forcing me to see it a deliberate ploy to remind me that I’m not as much fun as you are?

Honestly, I’m really not sure what the point of it is. It’s clutter. I just want to see the album cover/track list screen.

Just for context, there are three places where I use Plexamp…

While I’m cooking (so I’m not looking at my phone).
While I’m driving. (Ditto.)
While I’m working. (The phone is on a stand next to the computer & the last thing I want is that visual clutter going on while I’m trying to work.)

Even if it’s on by default, please make a “permanently off” switch. (Which is to say, an off switch that stays off until I switch it back on again, not one that reverts to on whenever I quit the app.)

It’s not like I can’t turn it on again if I have people over for a party & we decide to gather round my phone & enjoy the impressive light show.

Just try tapping once on it.

Yes. But I have to do that EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

No, definitely not. The state should get stored.
Is it possible that you are inadvertently tapping the player when you start a playback?
For instance by tapping twice on a track or album, or Play button, instead of just once.

No, I have been swiping down on it rather than tapping. I’ll try it & report back.

You may have just saved the day.

Again.

So, it would seem that tapping on it swaps the visualiser for a big album cover & some play buttons & tapping again reverts to the visualiser. Also, it does indeed save this state.

This is a huge improvement but still not what I’m really after, which is the small album cover & the track list. I still have to swipe down to see that.

Perhaps I should be asking if that could be the saved state? :upside_down_face:

Try
Settings - Experience - Player -
“Show full player” = OFF

You are a marvel.

I spent ages last night looking for a way to do this before making my “feature suggestion”.

Thank you so much. May as well delete this thread.

Closing this thread as “implemented”, then.
