Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II

Hi,

I’m trying to set up RasPlex 0.7.0 with the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II (http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/sound-cards-accessories/audio-advantage-micro-ii/31). I’m mainly interested in the digital passthrough, not the DAC part of the device. IT DOES how up under output devices, though regardless of what “Audio output” option I select (HDMI/Optical Coax/Analog) it ALWAYS tries to output the audio via HDMI.

Is there some tweak I can perform to make this work via the shell? I am yet to verify whether I can send sound to the ALSA device, but I will do so as soon as I defamiliarise myself with Linux and ALSA.

Regards,
Michal

P.S. I would be happy to donate one of these devices to the RasPlex team. All I need is an address to send it to.

Oh, and for what it’s worth this is what comes up in the log when you plug the device in:

[ 8654.463609] usb 1-1.3: USB disconnect, device number 5
[ 8671.560235] usb 1-1.3: new full-speed USB device number 7 using dwc_otg
[ 8671.660344] usb 1-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=0d8c, idProduct=0103
[ 8671.660377] usb 1-1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[ 8671.660389] usb 1-1.3: Product: USB Sound Device
[ 8671.660402] usb 1-1.3: Manufacturer: C-Media INC.
[ 8671.674239] usb 1-1.3: Warning! Unlikely big volume range (=9472), cval->res is probably wrong.
[ 8671.674267] usb 1-1.3: [13] FU [PCM Playback Volume] ch = 2, val = -9473/-1/1

Doubt whether you’ll get this to work on 0.7.0, it will need drivers, possible firmware changes and modification to the coding. Have you tried it with OpenELEC, if not, give it a try and then post back results.

Regards

I just tried OpenELEC 5.0.8 and it works with the audio device set to the ALSA: Audio Advantage MicroII, S/PDIF as well as the Passthrou output device. Dolby Digital is working fine (according to my receiver).

The only difference with RasPlex is that it doesn’t give the option of the Audio output as an ALSA device.

My offer to donate the device stands. All I need is an address.

Regards,
Michal

Thanks for posting back. It will need coding changes.
