TV does not recognise computer

Hi! I have a question…I have been using Plex for many years with great success! Now I moved to a new house and I cannot connect my mac to tv again! All that is changed now is the internet network.

What should I do? I am signed in, both the tv and the mac are on the same wifi network and I don’t believe my router is “blocked”.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Need more info. How does you MAC connect to your TV? HDMI? Some streaming method using DLNA or AirPlay? Did your router change?

there could be lots of things a defective HDMI cable Your network has nothing to do with the screen problems.

Make sure that your choosing the correct HDMI port when you trying to connect to your mac?

if you connect your mac to a regular monitor via an HDMI cable to you see anything on the screen?

This issue is not even related to Plex since the problem is between your Mac and your TV .

Hi,

I am not connecting with cable but with wifi (maybe it’s “airplay”??). It is a new router, new apartment, new internet.

Check your router then. In fact try googling the model of your router and things like Airplay and see if anyone else had this issue.

A couple things to check are that the following settings are enabled:

  1. IGMP Snooping is enabled (common)
  2. AP isolate is disabled (default)
  3. make sure they are both on the same SSID. Make sure your devices are not split and one is on the 2.4GHz and the other is on the 5 GHz bands.
