TV Show - Multiple Version episode naming/location

Hello,

What should be the location and naming to handle multiple version for a tv show episode like a 4K and non-4K version ?

Movies case are described in Multi-Version Movies | Plex Support but for tv shows, does both episode have to be in the same location or use two root folders like TV & TV-4K ?

TV and movies work pretty much the same way when stacking multiple versions.

Multiple versions can be in the same directory:

TV/Show (2020)/Season 01/Show - S01E01 - SD.mp4
TV/Show (2020)/Season 01/Show - S01E01 - HD.mp4
TV/Show (2020)/Season 01/Show - S01E01 - UHD.mp4

Or you can add multiple directories to your Library:

TV SD/Show (2020)/Season 01/Show - S01E01.mp4
TV HD/Show (2020)/Season 01/Show - S01E01.mp4
TV UHD/Show (2020)/Season 01/Show - S01E01.mp4

There are pros and cons to both.

In the first, with files next to each other, if a shows is matched incorrectly, it only needs to be corrected once.

The second, parallel hierarchies, works better when using something like Sonarr that has opinions about multiple versions of files.

The second also gives the flexibility to make a second Library, that doesn’t contain the UHD version, for sharing with others outside the home.
