Plex does not recognize the two shows as separate and individual shows, even after putting the TMDB number in curly braces. Instead, the 8 episodes of Suspect have been merged into the 5 episodes of The Suspect (which I have already watched) so that I now see only Suspect in Plex with 3 episodes unwatched. Plex does not show The Suspect even though it is in my server.
My Scanner and Agent are both set to Plex TV Series. Folder and file naming conventions for both shows have been strictly followed and, indeed, I have not had any problems so far.
On some shows (like these) it can be troublesome. To correct this for now, go to the show-level of the show (click on the show name, not the poster). If you are on the show-level, click the ... triple dot menu, and click Split Apart. You should now have two entries for this show in your list.
Determine which of the two shows is incorrectly named. You can use the number of episodes in the show to clue you in (the one with 8 episodes), or click the ... triple dot menu on a single episode and choose Get Info. This will show you the file path on your drive.
For the show that is incorrect, click on the ... triple dot menu for the show one more time, and click Fix Match.... This time, choose the correct show on the list. If it does not appear on the list, you can force it to find the correct show by entering into the search bar the IMDB or TVDB ID of the show. So, for the 8 episode show Suspect (2022), you would type in tvdb-410905. Note the use of “tvdb-” at the start, to tell Plex you are using the TVDB’s id to match. If you know the IMDB id, use that instead, such as imdb-tt15510352, as seen on the imdb page for Suspect (2022). This should show one result, and it should be the correct one.
In the future, you can help Plex do the correct match in the future by including the TVDB or TMDB id in the folder name as well. So for you, the folder name should be either Suspect (2022) {tvdb-410905} or Suspect (2022) {tmdb-201408}.
