I have noticed that subtitles are not working correctly with Plex. This was first obvious when watching a recording of a TV show on the web client - no subtitles were showing up when it is selected to play. Subtitles do play for the recording on my Apple TV players.
Also, subtitles don’t appear to show up at all on live TV feeds on ANY player - whether or not live or jumping into a recording halfway through. However, if I wait for the recording to finish I can then select the subtitles to play and they display just fine.
Any recommendations on what is going on or settings I should change? I did put the subtitles to always play on the plex server and when playing recordings it is selecting the subtitle option (unknown EIA_608), but nothing is displayed. I saw some old threads on hardware acceleration but that didn’t seem to do anything for me (not even sure if that setting is applicable for shield players when used along with a HD Homerun EXTEND which is doing the transcoding for me).
Perhaps this is a bug related to subtitles and the shield plex server?
