Trying to add the Aaron Sorkin show “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” which is never detected/added. To test I created a new library, pointed it directly at that folder (which is a subfolder in my “Television” directory with many other shows) and it scans, finds and adds it perfectly - but only for that test library. No matter what I do it won’t show up in my main library no matter what I do (changed it’s directory name, ensure the file names are correct, etc)
So in the “test” library it will detect it if the files are named wither
studio.60.s01e01.Episode.avi
or
studio.60.on.the.sunset.strip.s01e01.Episode.avi
But again it will NOT show up in my main library. The directory structure is:
Video \ Television \ Drama \ Studio 60 \ FILENAME
(note: there are 113 directories/shows in the “Drama” folder and at that level there is also “Sci-Fi” and “Sitcoms” which total 255 directories/shows). So ONLY if I create a new library and rather than pointing it at the “Television” directory I go all the way to “Studio 60” and it works perfectly. Oh, and in the main library it’s not showing up at all, not even in “unmatched”
What the?!?!?! Never seen anything like this before. Thoughts???
I should have been clearer - yes, that’s exactly how it is now - so again the files that won’t import as part of the set (just like tens of thousands of other files/episdoes) - there is no difference in the folder structure for this show (Studio 60) than 255 other shows so it’s not the directories in the main library.
Let me be clearer:
Library: Television
Directory: Video \ Television \ Drama
Directory: Video \ Television \ Sci-Fi
Directory: Video \ Television \ Sitcoms
(all 3 directories are in the library, much like you show)
Then inside each of the three main folders the structure is:
Mad Men \ Season 1 \ Mad.Men.S01E01.Episode.mp4
The full path to that file is:
Video \ Television \ Drama \ Mad Men \ Season 1 \ Mad.Men.S01E01.Episode.mp4
So that show imports perfectly (as do hundreds of others with tens of thousands of episodes) but
Video \ Television \ Drama \ Studio 60 \ Season 1 \ Studio.60.S01E01.Episode.mp4
WILL NOT import. So it definitely isn’t the directory or setting for the main library. I’ve been running this setup for over 5 years and have never seen a show do something like this.
What’s even more bizarre is when I add a folder to the library to go directly to the show, so adding: Video \ Television \ Drama \ Studio 60 it STILL won’t import anything. Again I know it’s not due to the folder structure as I just added a new show in “Drama” yesterday (Mad Men that I keep mentioning) and it adds in perfectly.
Just bumping this to see if anyone else has any ideas. Is there a way to search through the database for specific files to see if somehow it’s been merged into another show? I can’t imagine that being the case since I just added it new but I can’t think of anything else as to why it just won’t show up.
I would look at your scanner or server logs to see if the folder/file is even seen or if it gives a reason for not scanning. If it might have been matched with something already existing which generally you can find by viewing by episodes then filtering on duplicates.
THANK YOU - looks like my hunch was right and your comment pointed me in the right direction, I’d tried looking for duplicated but wasn’t viewing at the show level, when I did I found they were matched with the show “30 Rock” so I moved that show out of my library, fixed the match and then moved it back in - and POW, just like that I can now see Studio 60!
I also realized I had a number of other problem episodes that were incorrectly matched like that so I’m fixing them all now. As much as I absolutely love Plex when you have as large a library as I do and problems like this come up they aren’t easy to fix. 38TB of data is, well, a lot of data.
I got really lucky and it had matched on the first show in my list, “30 Rock”. Aside from looking at it in list mode using a tool such as Tautulli might help too, letting you search by filename.
