Like “Films”, “Series” and “Cartoons”, I have created a “Shows” library.
I had no problem, until I wanted to add three new shows in the last few days…
I did several times “Scan library files”… nothing is added!
I’ve never had a problem (so far) with naming, I’ve still renamed them when in doubt.
(I specify: I have added the files in the “shows” directory on which the library with the same name points).
Where I no longer understand is that I put one of the files in the “Films” library (just to see) and there… the file is recognized and it was displayed correctly after the scan…
I checked the rights/permissions to access the “Shows” directory on my NAS in case of doubt, and nothing has changed… it’s the same settings as for my other shares…
Plex handles movies and shows differently.
If you setup a library for TV Shows, Plex expects the files to be organized as such. Instead of the movie name, Plex will be looking for a structure like this: TV Shows <- the folder linked to the library .. Show Name <- the folder for a show called „Show Name“ .. .. Season XX <- a subfolder for each season .. .. .. Show Name - sXXeYY.ext <- the episode file
Where…
XX refers to the season and YY to the episode number
.ext refers to your video file‘s extension.
the sXXeYY pattern can be followed by optional arbitrary text, e.g. the episode title (will be ignored by Plex)
But I think there’s a misunderstanding, by using the word “show” I meant more precisely “one man show”… … my fault.
I fully agree with the file naming (I apply it for movies and series)…
But for the “one man shows” I classify them like this (I don’t see how else to do it):
One man shows (Spectacles in French) ← the folder linked to the library
… One man show Name 1.ext ← “One man show” file
… One man show Name 2.ext ← “One man show” file
… etc
It worked very well, as I said in my first post, but now the new files don’t appear anymore after the scan…
Am I wrong in the way I do it or is there another problem?
