TV Shows - Handling Specials is wrong

I just want to add my voice to the incorrect way Plex handles TV specials.
That is, the way Specials are associated with the TV show and not the TV show season.

Yes, I am aware of this https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220707-Naming-TV-Show-Specials-

But it is fundamentally wrong. And very annoying. I want Plex to show these two as different shows in the Plex client

Star Trek - The Next Generation.S03E99.Mission Overview .m4v
Star Trek - The Next Generation.S04E99.Mission Overview .m4v

Please fix. Plex is an otherwise excellent application (esp the Apple TV client) , and I use it as a primary source of viewing.

So it has been repeated ad-nausium over the course of many years.

Result? No Discernible Movement.

Welcome to the Forums. Enjoy the party.

This bothered me for years, too. I’ve put a crosslink in the Plex Pass forum to this post.

This would be a welcomed feature! being able to put specials or movies where they belong. Instead of having to setup a playlist (which also cant be shared across all users, but thats another feature plex wont implement)

I “think” if you edit the “Originally aired date” in the special’s metadata it will appear in “On Deck” in the order you want and it will play in the correct order from the post play screen after the episode just before it plays.

I also “think” it will not appear in the season listing in the order it will play.

I could be mistaken in that as I do not like to watch specials much so I have not tried to use the date aired to alter the behavior.
