Once again why is the implemented methodology different for Movies & TV?
Movies you just add ‘filename(year)-trailer’ but tv seems to have a different format and doesnt work if you follow the documentation…
So how do we make local trailers work?
Please can someone with the power update the documentation https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-tv-show-trailers-and-extras/
If you put it into a subfolder named Trailers, there is no need for a -trailer suffix. Change the file name to just Trailer 1.mp4.
Then Refresh Metadata on the whole show.
This is identical to how local extras for movies are handled, btw.
Hi see screen shot 2. & then look at screen shot 1.
It DOES NOT WORK…
To prove the point i even tried all 3 methods.
and FTW
This is how movie local extras are described: https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-trailers-and-extras/
If there is not need to do -trailer why is this listed?
For comparison here is the instructions for TV local extras https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-tv-show-trailers-and-extras/
We are attempting to add a local trailer for a tv series.
Can I suggest this is changed so that it works with the series filename in the FILENAME TITLE.
So that ‘through the wormhole trailer.mp4’ instead of ‘trailer 1.mp4’ is recognised?
Specifically the difference seems to be for TV you have to choose ‘refresh metadata’ where as on a movies library you can do scan library and it finds and adds the local trailer.
There are two methods:
- without suffix in an [extras type] subfolder
- with suffix in the main folder
This applies to both library types as well.
The exception is if those extras are already present while the main title is added as new to the library. Then a simple library scan is sufficient.
