TV STAR Ratings are corrupt when meta-refreshed, Kills Tautulli newsletters

I wonder if others are having these corrupted STAR ratings on recently updated TV Shows. Movies seem fine. (Windows 10, Plex Version 4.76.1)

Over three weeks ago, TV shows with new episodes were meta-refreshed and the Star ratings for the Show became random ridiculous numbers. I wouldn’t care (most probably don’t), but Tautulli’s Newsletter generates stars equal to the percentage, 1 star per 20%.

Kelly Clarkson show, 9870% STAR rating, 2,370 stars in newsletter
Loot, 77000% star rating, 1700 stars in newsletters
Ms. Marvel 2855150% star rating
Only Murders in the Building 2641760% Rating

My newsletter went from 300-400KB, to 560MB, to 1.036GB, to 1.57GB – needless to say none of the newsletters can be emailed for the last 3 weeks.

Sounds like you’re still using the legacy TheTVDb agent. IIRC somebody mentioned their API has changed some months ago which is causing the excessive ratings. That’s why PMS v1.27.0 stopped updating those.

Thank you. I had switched that library back because I had a couple of shows that I just couldn’t get them to be recognized by plex. I switched to the “Plex Series Scanner” instead of “Plex TV Show” (I always forget which is new and which is old, there names are so generic) The shows were instantly matched. I’ve upgraded the library again and the ratings are correct again.

As long as you go somewhat by the official naming and folder organization, the new agent (Plex TV Series) will find the files and metadata just fine. The Plex Series Scanner isn’t an agent… just the scanner – keep in mind the legacy stuff will go away at some point.
