Content Rating System Is Insanely High

You know when you click onto a T.V. show and it shows the overall rating (mine is from The Movie DB). However, recently it is showing crazy numbers for their ratings. Some shows have a whopping 4 million percent star rating haha. I know it’s a good show, but it can’t be THAT good! Is anyone else having this issue and what can we do to rectify it?

It sounds like you’re using the old Plex agents.

Those values from the metadata provider no longer have any meaning. They’re some abstract “popularity on the site” value. The number is only useful relative to other media.

Plex probably shouldn’t be displaying it as a %, but the old agents are deprecated.

Oh okay, that’s good to know! How to I change it to the new Plex agent? I’m still a bit of a novice if you couldn’t tell. Thank you for your input.

Be advised that 3rd-party agents and the automatic subtitle download no longer work with this new agent.

Oh okay. I’ve used the new agent/scanner, but it’s incredibly inaccurate. It’s actually quite horrible and I had to redo all of my media when I switched back to the old agent. If that means I’m stuck with having weird ratings, then so be it. Rather that than having all my media screwed up again. Thank you for letting me know.

That hasn’t been my experience at all, but you’re not the only person who has said something similar.

In many cases it’s a matter of file naming.

If it really is an accuracy problem, I would encourage you to share your file naming and some of the problematic examples here. A number of improvements have been made in the past to address accuracy issues.
