bump again. This is ridiculous. For EVERY TV station I record I have to turn off subtitles and then turn them on again to get closed captions. If there isn’t a way to make them default to on there ought to be! Help.

@BigWheel Since You’ve been so kind to help me: here’s another unsolved mystery. In summary: In playback of EVERY local channel recorded, the the Subtitles option says "Unknown (Closed Captions). I have to change it to None, and usually play a second or two, before stopping and returning it to “Unknown (Closed Captions)” for the Closed Captions to appear. Happens on every show all the time. Thanks!
I’ve just discovered that this is a problem with the Plex player… entering Plex via my browser defaults to showing the subtitles (CC) immediately.
