I just checked and my Roku Plex client is version 5.3_build_10. I don’t know if that’s the latest.
All the testing seems to narrow down to the Roku client, since it works elsewhere. Then again, all my other shows play their themes on Roku, but Rosemary & Thyme does not.

I have concluded that the fault likely lies with Roku. Plex seems to have done a good job on both the browser based media server app and the Plex Home Theatre. The .mp3 file playes well in both of those but not when played through a Roku device. I am thinking that Roku has limited support for certain codecs that Plex cannot program around.
I consider this issue closed.
I found this forum because I have the same problem on my Roku with exactly the same theme music, Rosemary and Thyme. It used to play fine but started a terrible crackle sound, oh, probably a few months ago. I finally decided I was going to find out what was going on and came upon this post. Sounds like there isn’t a fix at the moment. This happens on my Roku 3 and my 4.
