TVOS v16 behaviour change

Prior to the release of TVOS 16, Plex used to report the name of the player as the name defined in the TVOS settings (settings → general). Post TVOS16, the name is reported as “Apple TV” regardless of the name of the device.

I’m assuming this was an Apple change, but I would appreciate if anything can be done to return the defined player name.

Use case is using automation with webhooks and having multiple Apple TVs in the house. I know I can grab the players UUID to distinguish between then but I have seen them change also.

This has already been discussed in a number of threads.
It’s indeed a change of tvOS 16 which will no longer allow apps to access the device name – at least not without specific permission. IIRC, Plex team is looking into this.
