Two Plex Servers two remote locations?

GOAL: Share servers between two servers

So I am at my parents house on the other side of the country, trying setup a plex server on his local machine. Setup everything, then i added him to my account.

Now i can no longer access my server, all that i can see now is his local server? If I turn off his server all i see is that server and no longer my server?

I am running my server on a ubutu server, his is running on a windows 10 machine.

Correct me if I restate your goal incorrectly ?

  1. You want two servers:
  2. One at your parents’ home and on their account
  3. Your server at your home on your account
  4. You want to be able to see each others’ server

Correct, that is what I am trying to do. I lost the connection to my server at home, I am sure I just to resign into it. But I am across the country right now with no remote acess. Just looking for what I should well I am here.

If you can get onto your home LAN and use SSH, you can then ssh-tunnel to it.

With the tunnel, you’re as good as being at the keyboard at home

How exactly did you add his server to your account? Did you invite yourself from his server? Did you make the fatal mistake of joining his “home” instead of adding yourself as a friend?

No VPN or anything setup to remote into machine.

And Yes, that I made the fatal mistake of joining his home.

You can only be a member of one Home at a time, if you joined his home you left your own - and being the admin of your home, leaving it will destroy it. https://support.plex.tv/articles/203815766-what-is-plex-home/

So since i have the plex pass, i tried logging into his server, if i select my user on his server, it will just spin and not show the server. If i login with his account (which is part of my account but separate user) i can see his server and his stuff. But i cannot setup his DVR because it says he doesn’t have PlexPass

So i got everything working! Somehow i unclaimed my home server. To get everything working I signed out of both servers. Logged back in with my account (plexpass account) and claimed both hosts. Now I everything seems to work including the DVR.
