Two servers, one account question

I have two plex servers, one at home and one at my cabin. I’ve signed into both servers but I do not want them to talk to each other or be available to stream from each other. I just want the Plex pass features to work on both servers. Both servers are identical clones of each other hardware/media wise (if that matters).

The reason why is the cabin server has a very limited internet data cap (10gb a month!) and sometimes when my family uses it they stream from my home server by accident which costs me an arm and a leg in extra internet. For me to fix this I’ve removed the cabin server off my paid Plex account and created a free Plex account so they don’t talk. Doing this I obviously loose my paid Plex features.

Is there anyway to set them both up at the same time and make them not look at each other? I do need to have internet/WiFi on at the cabin to stream movies to the guest house and game room and get metadata info for movies/TV?

if your family is using YOUR account/user, then there is nothing you can do .

If your family has their own plex account and/or is a managed user, you can use the shared libraries controls/restrictions to prevent them from even seeing your cabin server.

Yes it is my account that they use. It’s my cabin and I mainly am the only one who goes up there so it’s not an issue. However at times my sister wants to go and she isn’t tech savvy at all so they don’t understand that they are streaming from my home server vs the local cabin server.

For some reason when it boots up it always wants to use the server at my house vs the local one. I’ve tried forcing the Plex Media Player app as well to look at 127.0.0.1 only but it still sees the other server under my account. If it would just boot up and look at the local vs the remote that would fix the issue for me. Maybe it’s something in the Plex Media Player App I can change. I haven’t really looked much now that I think about it.

if your PMP is using the uno interface, all you need to do is UNPIN your remote libraries and PIN your local libraries.

on the left side bottom there should be a “MORE” button, click that to show all servers/libraries, then pin/unpin as applicable.

Let me give that a shot. I gotta boot up the server real quick and login under my account, see what happens. I’ll get back to you, thank for the input!
