I recently ran into an issue where Plex wouldn’t let me reconfigure properly until I did a manual clean uninstall. The standard uninstall left behind registry keys and state data that caused problems.
My suggestion: offer two uninstall types.
-
Standard Uninstall (“I might be back”) → keeps registry keys, server state, and metadata.
-
Full Clean Uninstall (“I’ll never be back”) → removes registry keys (
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.),%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server, and any stored server claim/state.
This would save users from registry editing and make troubleshooting much easier.
Thanks for considering — it would make reinstalling a lot smoother for many users.
