I have a music library with roughly 1,100 songs in it. I’m trying to sync this library to my iPad. It took over roughly two weeks. The iPad allows sync over the Internet. The wireless adapter is active when home. Overnight, it make 3-6% progress.
The CPU and HDD activity of the Plex server is almost idle. None of the tracks have DRM. All are MP3s of various qualities. When syncing, I selected Medium.
iTunes would take ~20 minutes to do the same job. What is going on???
This might be obvious, but do you have the iPad plugged in and turned off Auto Lock on the screen. In other words, have the Plex app running in the foreground and not allowing the iPad to sleep.
On iOS apps get around 5-10 minutes to hang around in the background and do network-type stuff after the device goes to sleep. After that, any network requests go into a batched mode and even while plugged in, background transfers are prioritised by how often you use an app (and a bunch of other variables determined by the ProActive engine).
