Is anyone seeing this error when trying to download the latest version of plex media server? From my Ubuntu server command line it fails yet when I go to the link in a browser it downloads to my pc. Is this a problem with Plex or Ubuntu?

I am east coast US.

I am still getting 404 not found. Is this possibly a DNS issue or some kind of config file issue missing a certificate? I tried your line with “plex-media-server-new” in the path and it also resulted in 404 not found.

If it’s a DNS issue, it is likely on your end.

have you used this exact filename ?

Yes, I copied and pasted your line and it still failed with 404. I can ping it though and it resolves so I dont its DNS.

please traceroute to plex.tv , copy/paste here, **remove the first 1-2 entries from the trace output as it could uniquely geolocate you.

Something definitely is wrong with your service.
it does not take more than 30 hops to get to Plex.tv

They are blocking ICMP at the destination so hence the full 30 hops.

You’re using the wrong url. That url structure is for pre 1.15 releases. Newer ones use a url with the word “new” in the path

To remove all doubt. Please copy and paste correctly.

Thanks, that URL worked. Question though: I noticed “debian” in the path and this may be a stupid question but does debian include Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is a flavor of Debian Linux.
This is the same as Centos and Fedora being flavors of Redhat Linux.

Im seeing the same issue from a docker container.
I can wget the exact url plex fails to download.

Then wait for them to fix the issues with how it reports update availability.

Be advised, At this time there is no way for PMS to download or install its own updates on Linux with PMS itself.
