Server Version#: 1.23.5.4862
Player Version#: Various clients - affects all (Android, Web, Windows)
Hardware - bare metal ubuntu 21.04 Hippo install on a NUC8i5
HDR - > SDR tonemapping has been working on this system fine. A recent upgrade from 20.10 to 21.04 appears to have broken it (not 100% sure it’s the distro upgrade but good starting point?).
When tonemapping is enabled, the transcode is attempted by CPU. When i disable tonemapping the 4k transcode goes to hw as it should perfectly fine. Subtitles are off and it happens on all clients and across a range of audios - I am confident the problem is the tonemapping hw transcode itself.
When this system was first set up, the HDR tonemapping DID work so I know the hardware is perfectly capable. Other people reporting the same issues here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/nipdh8/4k_hdr_hardware_transcode_is_no_longer_working_on/
I have updated Plex, reinstalled beignet and openCL and confirmed present and I have installed Intel compute packages (x6 - but I think these are only really relevant for the 10+gen intel). I have tried disabling Wayland and using X11. No change, still cannot hw transcode tonemap content, it falls back to software transcoding and chokes.
Before I consider rolling back to 20.04 LTS where I know it works, is there a solvable reason behind this problem? I am happy to provide logs but not sure how to do so?
