Ubuntu/Debian repos are back - but requires manual acceptance - EXTRA: Yum/RPM repo also back!

You might be a genius…

What about for PlexPass users who want the latest beta? I’m assuming we still have to download the package manually?

Correct!

Well that’s… almost useful? Sorry, but this has annoyed me for years and there’s really no reason the PlexPass beta builds shouldn’t be available in a repo. I could possibly understand the access issue if it weren’t already possible to do http basic auth with apt repos.

The problem is not to add auth to the apt repo. It’s to have a auth provider that backs that and know if you have a plexpass or not.

:+1: worked!

Hi, I think there may be a problem with the 32-bit repos.

The i386 Packages.gz file is empty:

$ wget https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb/dists/public/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz
$ gunzip Packages.gz
$ cat Packages
$

I can force apt to look at the i686 architecture, which does have a populated Packages.gz:

deb [arch=i686] https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public main

I can then apt-get update and install as normal:

 $ sudo apt-get update
Ign:1 https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public InRelease
Get:2 https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public Release [5,815 B]
Get:3 https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public Release.gpg [821 B]
Hit:4 http://ppa.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/0.29/ubuntu bionic InRelease
Hit:5 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic InRelease
Get:6 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates InRelease [88.7 kB]
Get:7 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security InRelease [88.7 kB]
Get:8 https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public/main i686 Packages [424 B]

Whoop,
Got upgraded from 1.14, looking good!

After upgrading I am now unable to play media it says I am missing a required codec

need logs please

You may also try this first:

  1. Stop Plex
  2. sudo rm -rf "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Codecs/*"
  3. Restart Plex

Note: There will be a slightly longer first-play time as the codecs are downloaded again fresh

plexlogs.txt (50.9 KB)

That did not work and here are all the logs from the fresh start up until failure

Fix your DNS lookup / machine configuration

plex.tv)

Apr 16, 2019 20:54:36.051 [0x7f61af7fe700] Warning — HTTP error requesting GET https://plex.tv/api/v2/release_channels?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (0, No error) (Could not resolve host: plex.tv)

I though the same but dig can find it fine @ChuckPa

@ChuckPa I would also like to add that i can wget the files its failing to pull just fine so I dont know that I agree that its the DNS anymore. Additional I found a different thread where you and some people tried doing NSlookups and pinging plex.tv and it fails to respond to pings. I was able to ping app.plex.tv just fine so I further believe the DNS is fine.

One last thing to add to this… I am using google dns as my dns provider and confirmed that with another NSlookup, picture could be supplied if needed but i am using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

@ChuckPa I will add one more thing before I walk away… I did nothing other than uninstall 1.15.3.876 and went back to the only version I still have the DEB for which was 1.13.3.5223 and everything plays and works fine so this is very unlikely to be my DNS and something to do with 1.15.3.876

Thank you for that.

This is the first I’ve seen DNS lookup failures in 1.15.3.

I will investigate.

Update: YUM/RPM repos are back as well now with 1.15.3 in. Should work as before.

Thanks, never would have thought to look here.

Thank you!!
