Ubuntu : PHT, PMP, etc.

Hi guys,

I have a HTPC (Intel NUC) on which I run Ubuntu.

I’ve been running PHT but it’s always buggy and I can’t seem to find the way to fix it.

For example, on the login screen it’s always flickery… when browsing, it’s hard to describe, but if I browse through episodes the screen freezes and some elements are from the previous page, etc…

I’ve read numerous posts and did some Google-FU but I never quite found a way to fix that.

So :

  1. Would you have any tips to try to fix this

  2. Would you have an alternative that would allow me to run PLEX on Ubuntu?
IE : is there a way to install “Plex Media Player” instead of 'Plex Home Theater", if so: How?

Thanks!

There is an Ubuntu .deb package for OpenPHT, the successor to PHT, see https://github.com/RasPlex/OpenPHT/releases

Regards

Well…

I spent well over an hour trying to install this god-forsaken OpenPHT on my Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 LTS HTPC.

So I added the repo, then installed sh*t, then tried to compile it.

It wouldn’t compile so I had to install more sh*t, and still wouldn’t compile.

I googled around for procedures to install, I followed them and it didn’t work.

Google the errors, followed the solutions, and it didn’t work.

I was eager to try OpenPHT so much!

But this sh*t is just way too god damn hard to install, especially for a regular n00b like me.

I was hoping to add the repo and go all “apt-get install” on that ■■■■■.

Wake me up when I can do that
