ubuntu repo busted

So, the ubuntu repo has been broken for me for months, finally getting around to asking about it. Anyone know what’s going on?

I’m using the sources line:

deb https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb/ public main

but it’s failing to read the repo, gets the following error:

W: Conflicting distribution: https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public InRelease (expected public but got )

Not broken. That’s how it is.

It still works. You just get the unexpected warning

The InRelease file contains a GPG signature for all the other files in the repo, so you can verify they’re correct upstream builds and not malware. Without accurate data in that file, that process will fail, and people can easily inject malware via all sorts of techniques.

Sure, a package will download and install, but without verification, it’s a pretty dangerous. Especially since Plex provides a signing key, which implies it’s being used. I’d definitely consider that “broken”.

I apologize if you read my first reply. It’s been a lonnng day. 18hours worth.

There are issues but it works… for now.

Please just hang in there. All the repos are going to be redone as the new build system rolls out into production

ooh new build system! well, I’ll look forward to that then.

Its properly broken now

No, it’s working fine and had this behaviour for years. curl != apt
