UDM SE Hard Drive

I recently purchased a UDM-SE from Ubiquiti. I am curious to know if anyone has been successful in setting up a Hard Drive in the slot that is available within the UDM-SE to store movies on it so it can be used by Plex Media Server to get content. As an FYI, many years ago I had a Mac Mini mid 2010 and I ran a PMS on it attached to an External Hard Drive. I am just trying to see if there is a way to do this directly from the UDM-SE using the hard drive slot available. If not I am open to hear any additional recommendations any one has on another ubiquiti product that can be rack mounted to accomplish this.

In case you’re wondering, the storage space is not user-accessible. The UDM-SE doesn’t function as a mini NAS server.

Hey thanks for the detailed article, appreciate it. Ya, I kind of figured, was wondering if anyone had cracked the secret sauce to make it into one. Do you have any recommendations of NAS that would play well with this?

I’ve never used Ubiquiti equipment.

If you search the forum for “Ubiquiti” you’ll get a few hits, but those seem to be configuration, not compatibility, issues.
