Needing advice I just got a new four bay Nas from UGREEN and from what I’m reading right now they don’t officially support Plex what is the best and what I mean best is easiest because I’m a complete noob with this stuff Plex media server running on it?
UGREEN sent them out to every youtuber on the planet that wanted one lol
What’s best/easiest depends on your budget and what you need.
Huh? That doesn’t help me at all. I asked how to get it running other then garbage docker. So far the device is extremely premiums and blows away my synology.
Uh, you didn’t say anything about ‘other than docker’. And nope, it depends on the synology model if it’s any better. Intel models, kick it’s butt because we can hardware transcode. Like I said…it depends. So tell us more and you can get good suggestions. If what you are really asking is ‘how can I run Plex other than docker on my ugreen’ - you already know it’s not supported.
Plex Documentation → NAS Devices → NAS Devices and Limitations
UGREEN is not on the list of supported NAS.
If UGREEN supports Docker or virtual machines, you can try installing Plex via one of those methods.
Knew that. Thanks.
Hope it works well for you. On paper, they look like nice systems, even if the OS is still rough around the edges (per the reviews I scanned). Nice that they permit installation of TrueNAS & UnRAID w/o violating the warranty. If the quality is there, they could provide some needed competition to Synology and QNAP.
Exactly!
