UI/Fanart resolution

Hi,

I am running Rasplex 1.32 on a B Pi.

The Pi is plugged on a HDMI LCD screen or on a Sharp flat screen TV set.

The resolution of the UI looks not very colorfull nor high def.

The farnart is low res (but I understand that it will be enable in the future).

In order to have the UI looks sharper, I had to decrease the output settings at 1920*720 instead of the native HDMI res, 1980*720

On the TV set, the UI is not fiiting the screen, even after calibration (gery arrow on the left corner)

Before plugging my Pi on the HDMI lcd screen, I was using an old Macbook (white late 2007) plugged with mini display port converted in VGA.

The UI display is perfect and fit the screen totally.

How Rasplex behaves for you?

Do I have something ti change in the settings of my screen?

thks

I have the same issue on a sharp LED tv.  The left side is not filling the screen.  I thought it was just me.

When will the UI elements support a higher resolution (1080p)

As of now, some items resolution like fanarts have been reduced due to performance issue.

Performane is one of the main topics which is being addressed.

Once we can have the cpu load lowered, then we'll look into putting back the fanart resolution back to original if pi CPU can handle it without crawling.

Any idea when the fanart and DVD covers will be 1080p? This looks terrible on the current settings. thanks

My lg tv only supports 720p and the UI also does not fit the screen. The OP is talking about the UI not the fan art. The menus etc

They are back in 0.1.36. We have an issue with the media flags though which are appreaing as white boxes. This problem is currently being investigated.

As for what is about GUI fitting or not the TV, there is nothing specific to PI on this matter. I know that there are many settings in config.txt that you could fiddle with. Most people end up having a correct setup when playin with overscan and such. I hope you will make it thru :)

Did you manage to resolve some of this? Colors look washed out and it doesn't fit the screen correctly.

Hi,

I managed to solve the scalling issue: there is a specific module in Rasplex (look into the menus, I don't have it at hand) where you can adjust all the corners of your screen so that the fit is perfect.

For the colors, it is still looks like washed out.. but I think it comes either from the fact that for the moment, I am still in low rez fan art and UI.

However, the colors in the movies are normal.

I have read on the forum that the last bleeding release has the high rez enabled, but so far I am still in low rez. I am waiting patiently the next release to see if it's fixed or not.

There is an episode of HD-Nation that addresses this problem of 720p TV's that are problematic. That the way the mfg made the units do not allow turning off overscan. Check out the 5/17/13 Episode of HD-Nation over at Revision3.com

IIRC - they ended up saying owners of most 720p screens will never enjoy the entire video content because of the way they handle 1080p content.
