I would like to suggest a feature solution. It would be nice to have the ability to backup not only the database but all libraries to a external drive automatically, this way when new items are added to the library they get copied over to the external storage. On top of this it would be nice if plex could have a failover type of feature where if your main data store fails or goes offline it will automatically switch over to the backup library location and send some type of notification through the app that its now running on the back library. This would also allow for high availability in a way. Currently plex kind of has this failover type of feature built in where you can have two media files referenced for the same item in plex you typically can choose to split this apart or not. Other option is plex just mirrors the library and if one goes offline then the other is available. If this could be implemented into plex it would create a all in one solution for users.
