I’ve had my setup working without issue (running on my synology NAS in a container) for some time. Nothing of note has changed about my configuration (either network or NAS / container), but suddenly I am having issues accessing my library from outside of my network.
I get the unable to connect securely message. I do not have Require secure connections turned on.
Everything works fine if I access via local IP in a browser, but if I try to access using the plex.tv URL I am unable to access my libraries. I run a Ubiquiti UniFi network. I’ve tried both via UPnP and manually specifying a port and creating a port forwarding rule. I’ve confirmed that I am not double NATed (and again, this was working for quite some time without issue until suddenly it stopped.)
The CanYouSeeMe check suggested in the troubleshooting guide says that it can see the service running.
I’ve also tried changing to a different manually specified port, to no avail.
If I go to the Network page under Settings and click “Retry” it will show that everything is fully accessible and turn green, but then a few seconds later it flips back to red. I am not running any kind of IDS, etc. on my router or the NAS itself.
Any thoughts on other things I should try to troubleshoot? Please let me know if I can provide other relevant details. Thank you!
Try rebooting your modem/router and everything connected to it, including any wireless devices. That should clear any DNS cache corruption that may be causing your issue.
If you added a Port Forward rule in your router settings try removing it, reboot everything as above and then try Remote Access again.
Also, your NAS should have a Static IP address or you can use DHCP Reservation to achieve the same thing.
I.E. each time you reboot or reset your router, the NAS should always have the same IP Address.
If your NAS has more than one Ethernet connection, then go to DSM Control Panel > Network > Network Interface > Create > Create Bond and then select each adapter and bond them together into a single connection/IP Address.
If you need to add a Port Forward rule to your router, then use the following:
Protocol = TCP
External port number = a number between 49152 to 65535
Internal port number = 32400
Internal IP Address = NAS IP Address
You will also need to go to Plex Settings > Server > Remote Access > Manually specify public port, enable it and enter the External port number you used in your router settings, then click on Apply.
You were affected by a certificate which got stuck during its renewal.
I have revoked it now.
Please wait at least 10 minutes, then stop and restart your Plex server.

Thanks! All set. Working now.
I think I’m experiencing the same issue as everyone else. Remote access has stopped working for me, while local access continues to function perfectly. I’ve tried restarting the services, the router, updating, etc. Nothing solves the problem. I believe I’m experiencing the same issue as everyone else.
You are not affected by a stuck cert.
Thanks again for your help. For future reference, is there any way that someone could self-diagnose this, or does it require checking something on the backend that normal users don’t have access to?
@bjshively
The user-facing check for a stuck certificate is finding “429” errors in your logs right after PMS starts. (DEBUG logging)
