I 've been having issues with my Plex Media Server connecting to my Plex account. When I go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account and check the connection, the connection attempt fails. When I have remote access enabled, I can connect to my Plex server from outside my network without errors, so I thought it should be reachable from my Plex.TV account.
I started troubleshooting and found that my server does not have a valid SSL certificate; I’ve historically just gone to the IP from my home PC, so I never noticed this before. I pulled the logs and noticed this error:
DEBUG - HTTP requesting GET https://plex.tv/api/v2/devices/1c63374319c814d58e1e463475878c998eb1ba86/certificate/download
DEBUG - HTTP/1.1 (0.1s) 502 response from GET https://plex.tv/api/v2/devices/1c63374319c814d58e1e463475878c998eb1ba86/certificate/download (reused)
ERROR - CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to retrieve cert from plex.tv: 502, ,
Has anyone encountered this issue or error before, and have suggestions on what I should check?
Can’t even get access to see any settings on either server. Just hangs and says “connecting” but does not connect…won’t indirectly connect either. Problem started with all the others noting the issue earlier today.
Well. Looks like plex officially thinks it’s working for everyone, but it’s not. No joy after stopping server, restarting, and reopening plex.tv web access. It isn’t working
im still having issues as well, i can launch and run server, and connect via my apps , but cannot access anything via HTTPS or even open the Server App on the PC…
Thank you, boblinthewild and FordGuy61 for pointing me towards the Plex status. Even though others are still having issues, I’ve been able to reestablish connection between my server and Plex.tv.
