Unable to claim Plex Media Server

Windows 10
Server located on main desktop computer
Server Version#: 4.87.2

Overnight, something must have happened because my PMS became unclaimed. When I try to claim it, it tells me I am not authorized. I’m at my wits end and I have already tried the following:

  • Deleted the 4 registry settings and restarted PMS
  • Reinstall PMS
  • Ran ClaimPMS4Win (which tells me the server is claimed and doesn’t give detected owner info but does finish successfully)
  • Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4
  • Checked Host file for Plex (none found)

Please help if you have any other suggestions.

Update:

  • Tried to remove all authorized devices at app.plex.tv

You need to remove it from the authorized devices at app.plex.tv

Went in and removed all the authorized devices as suggested, but still says: Not authorized,
You do not have access to this server".

After removing it from the authorized devices try re-running ClaimPMS4Win

This is what was shown on the ClaimPMS4Win application, but it didn’t fix it.

We found an installed PMS, so far, so good

Use “Method 2.2” from this article: You need to reclaim your server, but don't dare to touch the Windows Registry

Method 2.2 worked! Thank you so much. I wonder what the problem was.
