Unable to connect securely

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version# (Plex Web) : 4.72.0
Player Version# (Plex for Windows) : 1.39.1.2763-300bb607

This is something I can’t wrap my head around.
I am trying to watch content on a Windows computer.
When using Plex Web (through Firefox), I get the error message “unable to connect to “servername” securely”.
When using the very same computer but on the Plex for Windows app, I am able to access the server securely and watch content.

What am I missing here?

I have the same problem. Even when accessing from a different computer on the same network. Check your secure connections setting on the server. If you have them set to “preferred” or “always,” you should be able to use a web browser.

If you, like me, have it set to “disabled” to allow older devices that don’t receive updates to access your server, you’ll be unable to use the web app except on the local machine.

The only solution I’ve found is to use the actual Plex Player app for Windows.

Thanks for the tip Dalmus.

Sadly, my Network setting was already set to “preferred” for secure connections.
I tried changing it to disabled and always, all 3 options have the same end result.

I’m open to any other suggestion.

My only other suggestion would be to make absolute sure your Firefox is up to date.

Have you tried using Chrome or Edge just for giggles? It’s possible you have some residual data in Firefox (cookie, or whatever) that’s mucking things up. If it works in another browser but now Firefox, I’d suggest doing a refresh Firefox.

Other than that, there are far more knowledgeable folks here that should be able to come up with more ideas.

I tried both the other 2 browsers. No change.

Now all of a sudden a few days later everything works fine on Firefox again…
No idea what changed, but oh well.

Thanks for the help Dalmus.
