How do you get on the beta?

You can apply for beta but even i havenā€™t received any reply from them yet. So i downloaded apk for that version from apk mirror.

Same issue here. When I launch plex on android phone my windows player never appears in the cast menu. This been a issue since August 2019. I have player setting set to advertise as player but it doesnā€™t work.

Same issue here. It used to work previously. Am on v8.1.1.18050. Tried a couple of things to no avail. Guess weā€™ll have to wait on the devs to fix it again?

Thatonedude Some people say they are getting a error saying unable to cast, I however donā€™t even see my windows plex player in the cast menu at all to get the error, do you see windows plex player listed in your cast menu?
Second question: When did you first notice the issue?

With the above updates I was not able to cast to window plex player. What version of Server, Player and Android app were you on to get it to work? I did not use any beta version of the app mine was updated directly from the android app. You posted your solution in April 1 2020 So Iā€™m guessing what ever beta you were on would gave been made available for everyone who updated from google play. Right?

Yeah, I too donā€™t even see Plex Media Server in the list so I canā€™t even get an error message that some people reported here. Noticed it yesterday the first time, however the last time I cast from my phone to PMP was probably a year ago.

Did switch to Kodi/Yatse with Bingie Skin to ā€œsolveā€ this and I donā€™t see me going back when it comes to using my projector. It looks way more beautiful than Plex anyway. Itā€™s just one of the many bugs Plex suffers from that ainā€™t ever going to be fixed because adding useless features is more important. Subscribing to the PMS update thread is probably one of the most depressing things one can do lol.

I agree they keep adding crap no one asks for and as a result the basic functions of plex fail. Im going to look into kodi, how hard is it to set up server? Last time casting to windows player worked was August 2019. People say downgrading to android version 6.17 seems to solve issue, but you have to get the apk from third party sites which iā€™m not doing, plex is officially on version 8.02 or higher as of today June 2 2020.

I Just came here to say that I am still facing the same problem trying to cast from an android phone to a plex for windows app and for a plex for mac app. They doesnĀ“t show as a available player in a android phone. I am able to cast from a mac to a windows pc (and vice versa). If I open plex web on chrome, in the same computer that I have plex for windows intalled, it shows in my android phone. The Plex Media Player version for windows also works with android phone, the only problem apears to be related with the new versions of the plex app for mac and windows. This is a very anoying bug!

After update my Plex server to version 1.19.4.2935 the cast functionality between an android phone and plex for windows is working.

You gave me hope. So I updated the server. After that, Plex Web (Firefox) did show up. I pressed it. Then it said connection failed. And now we are back to where we were: no players found.

Thrilling.
