In the last week or so anytime I’ve tried to cast anything from Plex, via web or Android app, to any of my Chromecasts or Google Home Mini’s, I get a notice saying unable to play media.
I’ve tried different movies, tv shows, music, everything. They all play fine on the phones and via web. They just won’t play if I’m casting them.
It all used to work and as far as I know nothing has changed.
Can someone please help me to figure this out?
I have a similar problem. You might try updating your plex server to the newest version.

That was the first thing I did. Hasn’t helped any though
I fixed the issue.
After rolling back the server from 1.9.7.4460 to 1.7.6.4058 rolling back one increment at a time with no results, I figured it could be a problem with the app on the phone.
The app version on the phone was 7.24.3.13840 - I updated to 7.25.0.14152 with no luck then rolled back to 7.23.0.13123. Version 7.23.0.13123 started casting again and everything is working.
I guess there is a bug or something in the newer versions of the Android app?
So for anyone else that is having a similar issue, try rolling back the app on the phone.

I’m the mean time I tried to run the newest version of plex on my laptop as a server. But now that doesn’t work anymore. No video, no foto’s. I can’t cast any thing.
The android app is the newest, the laptop version is the newest, the Chromecast had the newest firmware. So I actually don’t know what to do.
Is anyone from plex working on this?
