Unable to connect to my Plex server (QNAP)

Server Version#: 1.25.4
Player Version#: 4.73.2

Hi,

I’ve recently run into some issues accessing my Plex server from my QNAP TS-253A (firmware version 5.0.0.1891).
A few days ago, I updated my Plex server (using a download from the Plex website) and since then I haven’t been able to connect to Plex.
I’ve tried numerous things like, re-downloading an older version of Plex, rolling back to an older firmware version of my QNAP firmware, and finally doing a full reset of my NAS.
I’ve backed up all my files and metadata.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Define connect please.

Are you talking about the Web Client, or other clients?

Using the Web Client, are you using the one local on your QNAP?
And if so, so you mean that PMS responds, but you can’t see any libraries nor access setting?

If so, see: Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
When I click on the Plex app in my QNAP homepage, I get an “unable to connect” webpage appearing. Previously, it would automatically load into Plex up until 4 days ago.
I’ve posted some images below of what I can see.

What happens if you browse to http://<IP-OF-QNAP>:32400/identity

Does it show a feedback ?

If so, try this http://<IP-OF-QNAP>:32400/web
If not, try and stop PMS in QTS AppCenter, wait 1 min, and then start again from there

With the first link (using my IP of the NAS), I get an unable to connect webpage again.

Then try below, and please report back afterwards

Still getting the same blank webpage after stopping and restarting PMS in the AppCenter unfortunately

Okay, do you know how to SSH into your QNAP, and what OS is your workstation running?

i’ve got WinSCP, using a windows PC

You need Putty

When downloaded, run it, and connect to your QNAP as Admin.
If you see a mini menu when connected, select Q to quit, followed by Y to confirm

Then respond back here

Sorry, I meant to say Putty before.
I’ve done this now.

Cool

Now type

$(getcfg -f /etc/config/qpkg.conf PlexMediaServer Install_path)/plex.sh restart

Then show me the output

The following appears:

Ups, your database is damaged :frowning:

Try this:

Hi,

I’ve just tried this, but still no luck :frowning:

Describe in details the step you took, and note that it might take a while if backup was from an older version, and if so simply let it run

That seemed to have done the trick. I can open Plex via the QNAP application on the homepage now. Thanks
There isn’t any artwork uploaded yet for any of my video files, but would that take a bit of time as you mentioned?

On the library, select Refresh All Metadata

Is the artwork not included within the metadata backup? I was hoping everything would be reuploaded automatically?

Normally yes, but unsure how old the restored database was, or what happened to your system
