Unable to connect to server securely

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
Player Version#: 4.113.2

Since yesterday I have been unable to access my Plex server remotely via https://app.plex.tv/ . The error disaplyed is Unable to connect to "server-name" securely. However I can access it via the following methods:

  • Android app when setting “Allow insecure connections” to “Always”.
  • Using the Plex public IP found via Settings > Remote Access.
  • Connecting directly to my server internal IP while on the same network.

I’ve tried removing the server and reclaiming it, as well as logging out & back in. This server has been running on my Raspberry Pi seamlessly for several years now.

Any help is highly appreciated, thanks!

I’m having the same issue. I’m not sure it’s about secure connections, because I can access the device directly if I use the IP Address.

I looked through the logs on the web client and it looks like the external web address that Plex creates for clients to use doesn’t resolve.

So I changed my DNS to use google’s DNS service and was back in.

Thank you so much! This worked after changing my router to use Google’s DNS server.

No worries, what ISP are you using? I’m on Hyperoptic and I’ve raised a support call to them about the odd issue.

I’m also on Hyperoptic
