Unable to delete media by using client

Server Version#: 1.41.9.9961-46083195d
Player Version#: web 4.148.0 and ios/padOS Clients

It’s not tragic, just infinitely nerfing.
For some reason, I can’t delete media from my libraries via any of the clients. Error message: Simply “Failed”.
I can find the following in the log. But I can’t make sense of it.

The server runs under ubunto 14.0 LTS.
I played with every kind of user rights, even with 100777 (okt)
My user is owner of the files an user plex is in the group

Whats am i missing?

Have you checked the obvious to ensure that media deletion is allowed?

Settings > Library > Allow Media Deletion

Jep, its active

Last time I had this issue, it was a file permissions issue on the plex media folders.

Are you running the server on Windows?

No, its a Linux system.. see first post

I don’t know how critical this is but the current minimum requirement for Plex is Ubuntu 16.04 or newer. I would guess that LTS ended quite some time ago for Ubuntu 14.0
Server Requirements

Does the failure occur when you are connected locally (your network wifi) and also remotely?

I would add though that since the roll-out of the new Plex iOS app, if I delete a tv episode on the iPhone, it does delete the file from the server, but it doesn’t remove the episodes icon from the display. I would have to close out the app and re-open it to confirm that is was deleted and not showing up in the app.

Ohhh, i’m sorry… the ubunto version is 24.04.02. Sorry.. my fault.

And yes… i can not delete any file by using any client. Webclient, iOS Client, tvOS Client, ipadOS.. directly error message.
And the ownership for all this files and folders are me and plex. The rights are completely open for everyone… including me as user and plex.

is there any log i can look into for more details?

Before getting into the logs…

Was there an earlier version of PMS that you were running and didn’t have this issue?
Did the issue start up after some event - power glitch, update to PMS,.. ?

I would concentrate on just the web client at this point. The iOS apps have issues that would just complicate the problem.

I would start out with running ChuckPA’s Database Repair Tool
https://github.com/ChuckPa/DBRepair
There are instructions on the repo site and an example of the commands to use with a Linux based server. If something is not clear, let me know.
